The company name is variously described as referring to the actual designers who would "ghost-write" the collection behind the scenes, and also to the company's prospects in the fashion business, described by many as a "ghost of a chance" at success. Ghost fragrances were made in collaboration with perfumers Michel Almairac, Pierre Bourdon, Jean-Louis Grauby and Pierre-Constantin Guéros.
